PAULO FLORES APPOINTED EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF THE JOURNAL "MECHANISM AND MACHINE THEORY"
Paulo Flores, professor of the Department of Mechanical Engineering of the School of Engineering of the University of Minho, was appointed editor-in-chief of the international scientific journal "Mechanism and Machine Theory", one of the main publications in the technological-scientific domain of machine and mechanisms.
This is the fifth generation of editors-in-chief in the journal’s four-decade history, and he is the first Portuguese researcher to be appointed for the position. The nomination was presented during the 14th World Congress of the International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science (IFToMM), which took place from the 25th to the 30th October 2015 in Taiwan.
The journal aims at disseminating research papers on several areas such as Machine and Mechanisms project and design, Human-Machine-Interfaces, Micro-Machines, Robotics, Mechatronics Systems, Applications to Bioengineering, among others. During the congress, Paulo Flores was also re-elected as president of the Technical Committee on Multi-body Dynamics for 2016-2017. The main goals of the committee are related to promoting research, development and industrial application of the technological-scientific domain of mechanical systems, boosting international cooperation among scientists and engineers and also promoting public dissemination of results. One of the main activity areas of IFToMM is the reindustrialization of Europe.
